Dog fact – Do dogs have an appendix?

Dogs don’t have an appendix

It’s true! Dogs do not have an appendix but along with humans are other creatures that have prostates. Dogs do have a small pouch called a cecum or caecum that is similar but plays a minimal role in digestion. De-sexing a male dog will greatly reduce the chance of him developing an overly enlarged prostate called Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia.

  1. Your website says dogs and humans are the only animals that have prostate glands. That is incorrect. Many animals have prostates.
